Student Support Services
Student Support Services
Our student support services team is dedicated to cultivating positive relationships and experiences within our school environment and the wider community. Our goal is to help all students become effective learners while maintaining their overall well-being.
Social-Emotional Wellbeing
Our social-emotional programme is supported by a team of counsellors and advisors who provide both individual and small group counselling. These services can be accessed through referrals made by teachers, other school staff, parents, or the students themselves. Depending on the situation and the student's age, parental involvement is adjusted accordingly.
Our comprehensive PSHE program covers topics such as bullying, social media use, mental health issues, making positive choices, and child protection, emphasising the importance of safeguarding our students’ rights and well-being.
Student Services Team
We are committed to creating an inclusive environment that caters to the needs of all students within the scope of our resources. Our Inclusion Department, led by the Inclusion Coordinator and supported by Learning Support Educators, employs modification and differentiation techniques in the classroom to ensure every student experiences success. External specialists are also consulted as needed.
Diversity and Anti-Discrimination Policy
Our commitment to diversity is reflected in our teaching practices and school policies. We ensure that all community members, regardless of background, are treated with fairness and respect. Discrimination of any kind is not tolerated, and our policies cover all aspects of school life.
University and Career Guidance
The University and Career Guidance department supports our high school students through the university application process, offering guidance that helps them reflect on their personal values and potential career paths. The process, while demanding, is supported by resources like the High School University and Careers Handbook, which aids in navigating the journey to university.
Health & Medical
Our School Nurse plays a crucial role in the daily health management of our students. Responsibilities include emergency care, supporting Physical Social and Health Education, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. The nurse also coordinates with parents and external health services to maintain continuous care and meet legal health requirements. Our staff also have regular first aid training from the Maltese Red Cross.
Through these comprehensive support services, VIS ensures that every student is equipped not only for academic success but also for personal growth and well-being
