Governance and Policies
VIS operates under the stewardship of the Verdala International School Foundation, a non-profit organisation. This foundation is managed by a Board of Directors that includes an appointee from the U.S. Embassy in Malta, an appointee of the Maltese Minister of Education, three parent representatives elected by the school community, and two elected teacher representatives. The Board operates autonomously, with the authority to form committees and seek external assistance to support its functions.
The Board's responsibilities include hiring the Head of School, establishing school policies, and overseeing the School’s budget. It is accountable to the members of the Foundation and holds at least one General Meeting annually to report on the Foundation's activities and financial status. During these meetings, parent representatives to the Board are elected.
The Head of School serves as an ex-officio (non-voting) member of the Board and is in charge of the School’s administration. This role involves making policy and budget recommendations, preparing reports, and providing other assistance as needed by the Board.
